GENERAL PRACTICES: (Applies to all Star-students & Guest-students)
As we know, EB Bollywood dance school is a collaborative effort from the parents, students and the instructor. The high levels of mutual understanding, co-operation and hard work of these 3 pillars, have brought, and will continue making wonders in front of thousands! Below are the major practices that we follow to remain a successful school and a friendly big family, at the same time. Thanks all for adhering to below guidelines..!
-
Make sure to inform in a one-line text/email without fail, if your child might be absent from any expected classes/ programs.
(No notification means the student will be present, where they are expected)
- Please note that non-students are not allowed inside the classroom, for the instructors to grab the 100% attention of the group.
- - They may need to bring their drinks in bottles.
- No special shoes needed. Slippers preferred, as they practice bare-footed in class.
- They may wear t-shirts/tanks/shorts/leggings. Avoid skirts, jeans or jackets in class.
- Uniforms in each class is mandatory, if the team is provided with one.
I would humbly request you to avoid any chat/discussion with me before/after your kid's session, if there are other sessions scheduled. I'll be very happy to communicate to you through emails (preferred) OR over phone (1PM-5PM/after 9PM).
Once your student is part of group choreography, you MUST discuss in advance & get a date from instructor for Long Breaks (more than 2 months) or Discontinuation, so that it could be worked out without affecting the choreography they are part of.
Please read the weekly schedule emails for updates. Add emailbollywood@yahoo.com to your address-book, so that spam-filters won't eat it.
EBB General Policies
Class Attendance:
Regular attendance is very much needed for their proper progress. Since we are doing team-choreography, any student's absence creates extra-work and time-loss for the instructor and team.
Please TRY your BEST not to miss regular weekly sessions (unless for genuinely unavoidable reasons) In case anyone MUST miss, provide advance notification (through email/text) without fail.
Stage Performances:
Since the EB dance instruction is mainly focused on high quality team shows on major venues, we give utmost importance to them. Since most of our dances are team choreographies (with formations, and assigned positions), absence of team members from shows will put the team in trouble! Your kids' big effort and dream turns fruitful, only with the applause and compliments from the audience. And that is the fun part of their learning! So try your BEST not to miss those!
No Liability on School/Staff:
Parents will be solely liable, in case of any rare but possible incidents of any kind of injury or damage to the student, or his/her property, in the class/in the class premises/on the stage, during the practices/performances or any school related activities. ElectroBattles school or instructors or other students, won't be responsible for any such rare, but unexpected occurrences. While enrollment, parents agree/sign a liability waiver agreement, for protecting the school, instructors, other students and hosting facilities.
Enrollment/Discontinuation:
Parents must get a date from the instructor, for both events - "enrollment" and "taking break/discontinuing", so that it doesn't affect the team and the choreography. If your child is part of a current choreography and you want to take a break (or discontinue) you can do it ONLY AFTER completing all performances of that choreography. Feel free to let us know, with a minimum of 30 day’s notice and we'll work it out for you. As families and students are together doing a huge "team-work based on trust", kindly respect your moral commitment to the school, to the team, and other families, on such an occasion.
PERFORMANCE POLICIES (Applies to all Star-students)
Being a leading dance school in CA, EBB is regularly invited to perform for several reputed Indian/American events in Valley, or around Los Angeles. All the students who are ready might be invited. Our teams perform in front of huge audiences several times an year(Even at renowned venuee like Staples Center). Our teams participate in competitions too.
-
Once they are part of a choreography, participation is HIGHLY recommended for stage-performances of their team. Final rehearsals might be mandatory.
- Once a 5 min choreography is ready, team might start performing it, mostly on 3-4 venues minimum, which will earn students big exposure, experience and confidence.
- School will announce performance dates as early as it gets confirmed, so that parents can avoid/work-out any other conflicts.
- The school arranges the costume for the particular choreography. The student can "pay and use" it for each show, for an affordable rent.
- Each student is very important to the school, the same way. The stage positions are decided after careful consideration of specific factors like performance-level(confidence level, timing, clarity, grace, expressions etc.), attendance, age & size. It is purely based on neutral, thoughtful plan made by choreographer/instructor, for the quality of our presentation, and fairness to all.
Since most of our dances are team choreographies (with formations, and individual roles), absence of any team member, from performances might put the team in trouble!
It is very important that you discuss with instructor in the earliest, if you have any serious "unavoidable" conflict on an announced performance date/time.
Your child's big effort and passion turns fruitful, only when they use these opportunities. Their confidence boosts in multitudes, through stage performances, applauses and compliments!
After all, rehearsals, performances, competitions, gifts, accolades, photos & videos are the fun-side of dance learning & team-work!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1. Can I join EB Bollywood dance school?
ANS: Anyone (ages 3 & up) who cherishes some interest in dancing / music, are most welcome to join EB Bollywood Dance School...regardless of child/adult, boy/girl, novice/advanced, Indian/non-Indian :)
2. When is the best time to join?
ANS: Call/text the director (703.801.7346) in the earliest, and get the best date and most suitable group, as we have several age-groups and locations.
3. What if I miss classes?
ANS: Since we are doing team-choreography, any student's absence creates extra-work and time-loss for the instructor and team. Please TRY UR BEST not to miss regular weekly sessions (unless for a genuine "unavoidable" reason).
In case anyone MUST miss a class, provide advance notification (through email/text) without fail. We'll help the absentees to catch-up in class-reviews, and through practice videos.
4. Do I have an option to make up a missed class?
ANS: YES. We strongly recommend children to make-up missed classes in a nearby location, in the same week, so that they don't lose the continuity & ease and thereby their interest.
In case anyone MUST miss a class, provide advance notification (through email/text) without fail. We'll help the absentees to catch-up in class-reviews, and through practice videos.
5. Why is my little beginner showing reluctance to go to classes?
ANS: Don't worry! It's very common for a few weeks with beginners of ages 3-6. They'll start loving it in a few weeks. They just need that extra patience, clarity, motivation and determination during that starting phase, from parents. You just need to be clear & assertive, to start seeing the big difference, very soon!
To set right expectation for parents of little beginners:
As you might know, learning group dancing, takes lot of focus, observation and discipline in a group. The 3-6 yr olds needs to be tuned to grab that learning technique. For many little ones, first few sessions of learning, might be harder and "less-fun" than what they expected by "dancing"! Parents, along with the teacher, have to keep them motivated and help them to get over that starting-trouble. In a few classes, they will get trained how to focus, watch and listen with enough attention for dancing (which is 101%)! Then they turn very confident and start showing faster progress. That's the point they'll really start enjoying the fun of dancing & working with a group!
Once they master the techniques of group dancing, there won't be anything under the sun, which they can't learn! You can see how dancing turns them into super-kids!
6. Can the student take a break OR discontinue at any time?
ANS: Breaks at the starting stage of beginner student, makes their continuation harder. Many little beginners might need some time to understand & learn the techniques, to get comfortable and feel the ease and fun of dancing. It’s very crucial that they are very regular during this phase, when they might show some level of "starting-reluctance". Breaks are okay, once they get into the right flow. Unfortunately taking break at the wrong time for the little ones before they've settled will leave a wrong impression in them about dancing, in their entire life. So, it is critical to get the opinion from the instructor before deciding any break.
If the student is part of a stage production/choreography, for at least a month...
Parents are expected to give a reasonable notice & get a date from the instructor, if you have to "take a break" or "discontinue", so that it won't affect the team and the choreography.
You might be requested to do it, ONLY AFTER completing the choreography and all performances of that. Kindly let the instructor know as early as possible and he will give the best date for that, without affecting the group's effort.
7. Does the school arrange performances/recitals for students?
ANS: Yes. Being a leading dance school in CA, EBB is regularly invited to perform for several reputed Indian/American events in Valley, or around Los Angeles. Only for the enrollment month you can pro-rate for attended classes, if you joined after a month starts.

You have to get appointment from office, to do makeup lessons.
